Minions

Minions, also known as the yellow bean-shaped creatures, are characters from the American animated film series Despicable Me and its spin-off works. They are responsible for much of the films’ comedic elements, and their catchphrases have even become popular internet memes. Most Minions are supporting characters, with only a few having significant roles.

In the Despicable Me canon, they are depicted as small, yellow, capsule-shaped organisms created by Gru and Dr Nefario from banana puree, mutated DNA, and fatty acids. However, in the Minions prequel film Minions, they are presented as single-celled organisms that evolved billions of years ago, tracing their history back to the dinosaur era. It’s also possible to transform humans into Minions using a ray gun called the Minionizer, as depicted in the short film Panic in a Suitcase.

Minions speak in an unintelligible language known as Minionese, a peculiar blend of sounds and fragments resembling various human languages. They are simple-minded, impulsive, and possess little self-control, yet they exhibit an endearing naiveté that makes them both beloved and approachable.

Despite their relatively simple minds, they are capable of building and operating weapons, using computers, and even driving vehicles. Their current masters are Gru and Dr Nefario. Their primary functions include assisting Dr Nefario with his projects, serving as test subjects for Gru, and acting as a sizable audience for Gru’s three adorable daughters’ under-attended performances.
