I was looking for a way to reuse my old filament spools instead of just throwing them away. Since I often paint my 3D prints, I came up with the idea of designing a small painting station.

After many failed attempts, I finally made a bottle opener that shoots the crown caps off. Can be printed in PLA or PETG.

Nice idea overall, but there are a couple of details that don’t fit very well yet. The 90 mm ring fits extremely tight on the spool, you have to press it on with a lot of force. Also, the lid doesn’t rotate smoothly at the moment, it tends to bind and needs sanding to turn properly. That’s why I made a small change to the lid, so it rotates more easily. I uploaded the updated model. One more improvement suggestion: it would be great if the lid had a defined stop/end position. Right now, if you rotate it too far, it can drop into the spool ring.

After a long day in the burrow, this small meerkat finally sits down to take a well-earned break. As a father, he needs a moment away from work, responsibilities, and the constant chaos of the kids — just to switch off and rethink life for a second.

This 3D-printed WDT tool was designed with a strong focus on aesthetics and a clean espresso setup. Many WDT tools look a bit improvised and technical. This design is meant to appear as a self-contained, refined accessory next to the espresso machine.
