German:
Seeking an exquisite adornment for my expansive, unadorned living room wall, I conceived the idea of a 3D-printed world map.
To facilitate 3D printing of all continents and countries, larger landmasses required segmentation.
Subsequently, I meticulously assembled, filled, sanded, primed, and varnished the individual components. Upon completion, I affixed 10 mm spacers to the reverse of each 3D-printed section, ensuring secure adhesion and allowing ample drying time.

A precisely scaled contour of the world map was printed and utilized as a template on the aluminum sheet.

The various stages of this undertaking are visually documented in the accompanying images.
Crucial to the project’s structural integrity is the rear-mounted frame for the aluminum sheet, preventing bending and ensuring the affixed components remain secure.

Additional Components:
- LED strip (length x width: approximately 5.5 meters x 12 mm)
- Acrylic rods of varying diameters (truncated to 10 mm length)
-> function as spacers for the printed world map segments
-> alternatively, spacers may be 3D-printed using transparent filament
- Aluminum sheet (length x height x thickness: 160 cm x 100 cm x 3 mm)
-> serves as the backing for the affixed world map components and spacers
- Aluminum rectangular tubing or solid profile
-> provides structural reinforcement to the aluminum backing and facilitates wall mounting
- Aluminum U-profiles (width: 16 mm)
-> forms the LED frame
-> approximately 5.5 meters required

English:
I sought a captivating decorative element for my extensive, bare living room wall, leading me to the concept of a 3D-printed world map.
To enable the 3D printing of all continents and countries, larger landmasses were partitioned into multiple sections.
These segments were then carefully joined, filled, sanded, primed, and lacquered. Upon completion, 10 mm spacers were precisely attached to the reverse of each 3D-printed piece and allowed to dry completely.

A precisely scaled outline of the world map was printed and served as a template on the aluminum plate.

The distinct phases of the creation process are depicted in the accompanying images.
A critical structural component is the frame affixed to the aluminum plate's reverse, providing rigidity and preventing warping, thus securing the adhered sections.

Additional Components:
- LED strip (length x width: approximately 5.5 meters x 12 mm)
- Acrylic rods of varying diameters (all shortened to 10 mm)
-> serve as spacers for the printed world map sections
-> transparent filament can also be used to 3D-print these spacers
- Aluminum plate (length x height x thickness: 160 cm x 100 cm x 3 mm)
-> serves as the backing, upon which the printed world map sections are affixed using spacers
- Aluminum rectangular tubes or solid profile
-> provides reinforcement for the aluminum backing and serves as a mounting system
- Aluminum U-profiles (width: 16 mm)
-> forms the LED frame
-> approximately 5.5 meters are needed
