Podenco Bust

This Podenco bust captures the refined silhouette and alert expression that define this ancient Mediterranean hunting breed. Sculpted in a poised three-quarter profile, the head is gently angled forward, conveying attentiveness and quiet intelligence. The long, narrow muzzle and fine facial lines emphasise the breed’s aerodynamic form and natural grace.

The most striking feature—the tall, upright ears—is prominently rendered, rising sharply and adding height and drama to the composition. Their sculpted interior contours and crisp edges create strong definition, reinforcing the Podenco’s keen, responsive character. The slender neck flows seamlessly into the upper chest, maintaining the breed’s elegant, athletic proportions.

Subtle surface texturing suggests the short, close coat without overwhelming the clean structural lines. The smooth transitions across the skull and muzzle contrast beautifully with the more defined textural work around the neck and chest, giving the piece balanced visual interest.

Finished in a weathered bronze-effect patina, the sculpture gains depth and warmth. Darker tones settle into recessed areas around the eyes, ear bases, and neck contours, while softly brushed highlights accentuate the muzzle ridge, cheekbones, and ear edges. This finish enhances the sculptural detail and lends the bust a timeless, gallery-style presence.

Mounted on a classical cylindrical plinth with stepped detailing, the bust is both stable and refined in presentation. The structured base anchors the tall, elegant form above, creating a harmonious and striking display.
