Description

Overview

This is a 3D-printable statue of John Soreth, commonly known as Blessed John Soreth. The model is designed for home prayer spaces, Carmelite communities, shelves, or study areas. Geometry is kept clean and print-friendly to minimize fragile failure points while preserving traditional Carmelite details.

Many people connected to the Carmelite Order keep a statue of Blessed John Soreth as a symbol of reform, leadership, and fidelity to vocation.

History of the Object

Blessed John Soreth (c. 1394–1471) was a Carmelite friar and Prior General of the Order of Carmel. He is credited with reforming and strengthening the Carmelite Order and formally establishing the Carmelite nuns and Third Order.

He was beatified (given the title “Blessed”) but not canonized as a saint. Within Carmelite spirituality, he is highly respected for disciplined leadership and institutional renewal.

What People Traditionally Keep This Statue For

People commonly place a statue of Blessed John Soreth for prayer or reflection related to:

  • Strength in religious vocation
  • Leadership within church or community
  • Renewal and reform during difficult seasons
  • Fidelity to spiritual commitments
  • Guidance for those connected to the Carmelite tradition

For many, the statue represents structured reform and steady, disciplined leadership rather than dramatic action.

Supports & Removal Notes

  • Fine details may include hands, facial features, scapular lines, or robe folds
  • Thin garment edges are the most fragile areas
  • Supports may be required depending on orientation and slicer settings
  • Remove supports slowly and carefully, especially around hands and fabric edges
  • Avoid twisting thin sections free, cut supports gradually

Scaling & Strength

  • Upscaling (125%–200%) improves durability and thickens delicate features
  • Larger prints result in stronger layer adhesion and easier handling
  • Small-scale prints increase fragility, especially around hands and sleeves
  • If printing for church display, go larger for longevity

Important Notes

  • Decorative and devotional use only
  • Not designed for functional or load-bearing use
  • Not intended for outdoor exposure
  • Handle carefully after printing, especially at smaller scales
