Description

Work in progress!

My cat doesn't like any toys. The only thing he's interested in is hunting. He was interested in catching light, so I decided to make an automatic device that would allow him to do so.

Boost Me (for free)

The device is simple – two RC servos move a small flashlight for the cat. The movement of the light can be controlled manually or automatically. In automatic mode, the device can perform random movements that should keep the cat interested.

The device is based on the ESP8266 chip, in the form of a Wemos D1 mini module. The firmware is written in simple C++. The device connects to a WiFi network and provides a simple website for managing it. The following functionality is available:
- manual position control
- movement speed setting
- predefined animations
- setting a “barrier,” i.e., the area in which the light should move
- turning the light on/off

You will need:
- Wemos D1 mini module (USB C!)
- DC socket (as in Arduino)
- small piece of PCB board
- two MG90 servos
- 40x52x7 bearing
- M3 threaded bushings
- M4 screws
- 2 M3 square washers
- other miscellaneous parts

The flashlight can be powered by 3.3V or 5V.
