Description

This is a replacement for the small plug at the bottom of standard household mini blinds that holds the pull-string in place.

The original plug on my blinds snapped in half so my blinds did that thing where one side can be pulled up normally while the other side just flops around freely at on the window sill. I was unable to find a replacement part online so rather than buying and installing new blinds I just made a replacement plug. I have included 3 versions:

  • One that is solid and has no notches - Foolproof and secure, but might not sit perfectly flush.
  • One with notches on both sides - This should help make the plug sit flush with the surface by threading the string into the notches.
  • One with notches and a “valley” through the inner plug - This should prevent the string from wrapping around the plug during use and sit flush.

Personally, I used the solid plug with no notches, but on second thought I do wish I would have used the version with notches and a valley so it would've sat more flush. But no one sees it, so I'm not worried about it.

You might need to scale it up or down a couple percent. You want a real tight fit, so make sure the scaling is right.

These are fast and cheap prints so print them all, and print them in varying sizes to see which version works and looks the best for your blinds.

Mine have held up for over a year with no issues, though I do wish I would've printed them in white!

Enjoy
