3D-Printed Bevel Gear Model

Technical Explanation & Assembly Guide

How It Works

A bevel gear is a type of mechanical gear designed to transmit rotational motion between non-parallel shafts, typically at a 90-degree angle. The gears feature conical-shaped teeth, which allow smooth and efficient torque transfer while changing the axis of rotation. Bevel gears are commonly used in applications such as automotive differentials, hand drills, and mechanical clocks, where directional changes in power transmission are required.

Assembly:

  1. Put in the small gear in to the smaller hole. (if possible lubricate it)

  2. Put the larger disk gear on its shaft

  3. Put the shaft in the big hole (also Lubricate)

  4. Now just put the Knobs on the matching hex port

finished !

Applications

  • Educational Model: Perfect for classroom demonstrations to teach the principles of gear mechanics, torque transfer, and angular motion.
  • Learning Tool for Makers: Ideal for 3D printing enthusiasts and hobbyists exploring mechanical systems and power transmission.

Conclusion: This 3D-printed bevel gear model is a hands-on, interactive way to understand the fundamentals of gear systems and their role in mechanical engineering.
