Description

Spring is near and that means it's time to get seeds into the ground and start growing plants. To keep track of what will grow in each seedling pot, it's helpful to apply plant labels and stick them in the soil.

We had a few plant markers already, but not enough. So, I instantly designed some and had them printed. I'm happy to share this with the community!

The labels are 120 mm long, 13 mm wide, and around 1.40 mm thick (depending on slicing variability). The surface is smooth/ironed and can be written on with a pencil. The pencil markings can be erased or removed with dish soap and water, but generally they last through a season, even in the rain.

For the material, I chose PETG due to its UV resistance. Up to 34 labels fit on a print bed.

Happy gardening and greetings from Northern Germany!

Update 2026.4.1

Some users reported issues with under-extrusion while printing the plate with 34 pieces. Specifically this happens after ironing of one piece and printing the last layer of the next piece. Fun Fact: I had the same problem two times! The first print went well, then 2 plates with under-extrusion gaps. So I took the opportunity to slightly increase the ironing flow rate to avoid nozzle emptying. Surprise: it worked, and so I update the print plate for the 34 pieces accordingly. Nevertheless, ironing depends on sooo many circumstances. Most relevant one seems to be that the filament is properly dry.

Pro tip: Recently I used the Bambu Smooth PEI Plate. I can strongly recommend! Even if the ironing goes wrong: the bottom layer is like 😍
