The laptop risers I have found have the issue that, if the laptop ports are in use, it is not possible to position them correctly. With the curved riser, this problem is mitigated. There are three pieces, and if necessary, once the right position for our laptop is found, the hexagonal piece can be glued to prevent it from rotating
