I designed this dragon completely in Tinkercad. I had to export the dragon one piece at a time and reassemble it in the slicer to work around the limitations of TInkercad. The model is too complex and the export will time out if I tried to export the whole dragon as one STL.

I am back with yet another kinetic sculpture, Twirly Gig 6! I made two attempts to build this using printed gears, but the 3D printed worm gear gave me very jerky motion. The gear generator made it with rough surfaces, and it required some play to rotate freely. So for my third attempt I used small plastic gears purchased from Amazon. Now I know that models that require parts get less attention, but this was a challenge I had to complete.

As I was assembling my sign boards for publication I decided it would be much easier if there was a way to organize the letters. So I quickly drew up a design for some sorting trays to help organize all the small parts.

This custom sign board can be printed on any X, P, oar H series printer. The board measures 230 x 230 mm, which makes it fit the X1C build plate. It is a slotted sign board with a big collection of letters. This is the second sign board I have published. The fist is smaller and will fit on the Bambu MINI. Make your own sign! This was a fun project to design and build. It looks very professional. There is a storage compartment in the base that holds all the unused letters. There are multiples of all the letters and numbers, and if you need more they are easy to print. The frame snaps in place to lock the letters so they can't fall off the sign.

What a fun design! I combined it with some trees of my own design and displayed them together on a mirror. This will be a donation to a charity auction to benefit the Thurston County Food Bank.

I like to make puzzle boxes! They are a fun engineering challenge. This one assembles easily. I think it will take most people 3 to 5 minutes to solve the puzzle and open the box.

Here is another locking puzzle box just in time for Christmas. The average puzzle person should have it open in less than 5 minutes. It looks like a normal gift. Rotate the bow, slide the ribbon parts, and rotate and slide the maze puzzle to open the box.

Great design with intricate details. Supports were difficult to remove. Some of the supports were more robust than the delicate model parts, and some of the model parts look like supports. But that is no fault on the designer. That’s just what this model is going to require.
