Marky - The Original Benchy Bomber - Benchmark

If a “Benchy” could float… “Marky” could sink it.😏

I now present “Marky”, the benchmark biplane bomber! 

It's cute, it's quick, it's useful, it's repeatable, it's comparable, it's measurable; and it will always WOW a toddler and grandparents alike… AND it drops a bomb.

No Supports:

• How?? This little guy is designed to be printed on his nose.

Fast:

• PETG-HF = 54m 46s (compared to 43m 40s of standard 3DBenchy with identical settings)
• PLA Basic = 41m 40s (compared to 30m 47s of standard 3DBenchy with identical settings)

Cheap:

• PETG-HF = 15.09 g (compared to 11.39 g of standard 3DBenchy with identical settings)
• PLA Basic = 15.31 g (compared to 11.55 g of standard 3DBenchy with identical settings)

Part-Cooling Performance and Overhang Capability are tested by these (see image below) highlighted features:

Bed adhesion is tested by having minimal surface in contact with the build plate:

• SERIOUSLY. You might want to consider using a build plate adhesive; cause you're about to find out how reliable your first layer stick is!
  • Bed adhesion is arguably the most important component of 3D printing; that's why it's included in this benchmark test.
  • If you just want the plane, feel free to add a raft, brim, or recess the plane into the build plate a little to give yourself a larger starting surface area.👍

Bridging quality is tested in the four locations circled in yellow:

Geometric accuracy:

• Wing span = 55mm
• Wing spacing = 26.27mm
• Wing support thickness = 2mm (Qty 4)
• Tail rudder thickness = 2mm
• Wheel diameter (front wheels) = 14.6mm
• Wheel runout (front wheels) = How droopy are the first few layers on the front wheels?
• Tail width = 27mm
• Nose diameter = 24mm
• Nose to tail (Z-height accuracy) = 56.5mm (nose to flat on tail)

Clearance test #1:

• Marky's belly bomb is flex-fit and print-in-place; if your printer is dialed in, the bomb is droppable.😎
• (also available without the removeable bomb… you know, for toddlers.)

Eyelet feature (yes, it is positioned directly above the center of gravity) to hang your Markies from… everything?

The beloved 3DBenchy has a special place in all our hearts. Why? I think it's time we consider another contestant who's a little younger than ye olde tugboat…
