Description:

The Universal Door Handle Stopper is a versatile solution designed to fit a wide range of door handles, including round and asymmetrical shapes. With an inner diameter of 18mm (0.71 inches), a outer diameter of 42mm (1.65 inches), and a width of 15mm (0.59 inches), it provides a secure fit on various handles, including my 19.9mm (0.78 inches) round handle and square-gripped balcony door.

 

Design Features:

Fit: Unlike my previous design, this stopper is more adaptable and fits a broader range of door handles, including asymmetric ones.

Asymmetrical Design: The stopper’s asymmetry allows users to adjust the distance between the handle and wall by simply rotating it.

Wave Pattern with 10 Noses: The wave-like pattern ensures both flexibility and functionality, delivering the desired protective effect for handles and walls.

 

Two Print Profiles Available:

1. 1-Wall Loop Profile:

• Offers a softer, more flexible design, making it ideal for applications where a squishy surface is preferred.

• This profile may be too flexible for certain applications but can be adjusted using the Global > Strength > Sparse Infill Density in the Bambu Studio slicer to increase stiffness.

2. 2-Wall Loop Profile:

• Provides a stiffer, more solid design that is ideal when durability is a priority.

• This is my personal preference for most use cases due to its strength.

 

Material Recommendations:

TPU for AMS: This design is optimized for Bambu TPU for AMS, which printed in my case great right out of the box with exceptional quality and clean results. However, it is critical to ensure the filament is dry before printing, as TPU is highly sensitive to moisture.

Regular TPU: You might find that regular TPU is too soft for this design, potentially reducing its functionality and effectiveness. I would recommend my other design for round handles. 

PLA Option: The stopper can also be printed in PLA, but note that PLA is hard and less flexible, which may reduce its effectiveness for protecting handles or walls. Depending on the type of PLA, it might tolerate some stress but could also crack or smash under pressure. If you want to try PLA use the 1-Wall Loop Profile to allow for some flexibility. 

 

Customization and Adaptation:

If your door handle size does not fit, the design can be easily adapted using the scale feature in the Bambu Studio slicer under the “Prepare” tab. The measure feature can help confirm adjustments for a precise fit.

Note:
