Description

Because Technut's design idea isn't toddler-safe (I've had to glue the broken guide lip several times), I decided to design my own box with Fusion 360 for 56 x 87 mm UNO cards. On my first box I placed the “UNO Flip!” logo. This time I created some boxes for classic UNO cards.

Printing tips / notes:

In order to display the logo cleanly, the top part has to be printed horizontally, which requires a lot of support. I used “Bambu Support for PLA” on the transitions and got great (smooth and precise) inner surfaces. If you want to print a white background variant, you will need to increase the cleaning volume and use a cleaning tower to maintain clean surfaces. I got better/cleaner results with less bright white shades like Prusament “vanilla white”.

If you want to print the “All Black” version on a textured print bed, you should also print the inner part lying down to get the texturing on the front too. I created an own variant of the inner part for the “All Black” version, where the snap mechanism is rotated by 90° so that the layers run in the direction of the load.

Really nice box. I've used the plate number 1 and printed just in 2 colors. It looks grate. The only thing to point out is support: I've tried both with PLA and Bambu support for PLA but I cannot obtain a nice looking surface on the inside top surface. Maybe increasing the interface distance might helps.

Great design and while removing supports you realize how well the profile has been tuned to leverage the benefits of Support W. Even the inside has a nice smooth finish. Only thing I was wondering: why haven’t you design this for the cards to lay flat instead of upright? That way no supports would be needed.

Looks great and offers a lot more durable solution than the box the cards came in. Works well, but a lot of cleaning of supports to do. I'll eventually reprint using the support filament to try to get a little cleaner version myself

As you can read in the model description, it is necessary to print the object horizontally with an excessive amount of support and special support material in order to achieve a good quality logo in a reasonable printing time. The description of the print profile also includes the information that special support material is necessary to achieve a beautiful logo and a reasonable fit at the same time. I wish you good luck with reprinting with special support material.

Support Issue

Hello Tom3D! Thank you for your feedback ! It would be great if you could describe in a bit more detail what went wrong. What exactly is the problem with support? As you can read in the description of the profile and also in the description of the object, the Bambu support material is used for the support in order to obtain a clean logo and precise interior walls. This should then be easy to remove from the box without any issues. If you haven't used this, it's likely that you'll have issues with the support as the internal surfaces won't print accurately enough and the support will be difficult to remove.
