Description

The new Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition hardware is a great piece of kit for trying out local voice control of your smart home. However, whilst flat on a surface, the slimline form factor and flush LEDs make it difficult to see visual indicators when it's active or displaying a timer countdown. I found a few wall mounts available for 3D printing but hadn't seen an IKEA Skadis mount, so I decided to model one.

The design is quick to print, lightweight and has cutouts for the power and 3.5mm ports underneath, the control wheel and LED are both accessible and visible in the mount. I've tried it in several colours, sticking with the white as it matches the hardware itself - although the Open Home Foundation have made the enclosure files available to change the entire case colour if you like too.

To fit it into the case, just pop out the bottom two rubber feet (they are designed to come off easily for screw removal if replacing the current enclosure), you can leave the top ones in still.

I didn't need to add any strength modifiers to the hooks as it's a light bit of hardware. The tree supports are minimal and simple to remove.

Enjoy
