Description

Yes, it's yet another desiccant container. But this one is parametric!

This took me a little while to get it right. A little boost would definitely help me create more models similar or related to this one. Thank you!

Motivation

One thing I have been struggling with is silica dust. I have printed other desiccant containers, but as I reactivate my silica beads, some start breaking with time, and some dust start to fall off the containers and spread through the filament spools.

And that's why I made this one. Only the lid has a venting grid, where you can easily cut a little circle of a coffee filter and place in between the lid and the container itself. And voilà! No more silica dust! ✨

The internal container wall has baffles to increase desiccant circulation, to compensate the air ventilation reduction.

The default print profiles contains a 50×30mm container, but you can also customize your own.

Printing a custom size? Use these print settings

Unfortunately, the customizer doesn't allow us to provide print settings, so here are my recommendations:

(Alternatively, you can use one of the available print profiles, replace the model in Bambu Studio, and adjust the affected layer ranges.)

Global:

  • Quality
    • Seam position: Random
  • Strength
    • Top surface pattern: Concentric
    • Bottom surface pattern: Concentric

Objects

  • Container
    • Layer Range: 1.802.00 mm (the top layer of the part's inner bottom)
      • Strength
        • Top surface pattern: Archimedean Chords
  • Lid
    • Layer Range: 1.802.00 mm (the top layer of the part's inner bottom)
      • Quality
        • Top surface: 0.5 mm
      • Strength
        • Top surface pattern: Archimedean Chords

If you want a textured finish, use these additional settings:

Global

  • Others
    • Fuzzy Skin: Contour
    • Fuzzy skin point distance: 0.2 mm
    • Fuzzy skin thickness: 0.4 mm

Objects

  • Container
    • Layer Range: the top 4.00 mm of the part, which is the thread (Example: For a 30 mm tall model, the container would be 27.80 mm, so the range would be 23.80 – 27.80 mm)
      • Fuzzy Skin: None
  • Lid
    • Layer Range: 5.806.00 mm (The top layer)
      • Fuzzy Skin: None

Thanks! Enjoy

This also goes well with my Hygrometer Case.
