Description

This model is used for a lift hook for Team 4234's robot in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) 2023-2024 Season. This hook design has been successfully tested for lifting over 50 lbs when using PLA+. The holes are based on a standard Gobuilda hole pattern. This design is currently used to lift our robot to victory! It is designed to be printed flat with no supports. There is a high number of walls to help improve strength. The Ovals in the middle of the hook section are to increase the number of walls and strength where needed. Testing was done with both a load on the main hole and separately with the load on a beam connected to just two of the holes set for M4 screws.

While we have not seen any issues with the version printed in PLA+, later testing showed that PETG has some nice characteristics in the ability to flex without breaking, and should be considered with this design.

This hook was designed and shared by FTC Team 4234, thus the number on it. We have provided a version of the print without our team number on it.
