The Legion Go is a great handheld gaming system so I hope a lot of you are getting one for the holidays.
I'd designed a system of magsafe inspired mounts and housings to support the accessories for the Legion Go. At this point, I have a mount for the Anker 737 Battery and a mount for the Vention USBC Hub which I will post separately.
This is a replacement for the stand that is currently on the Legion Go.
I have been using a similar system on my ROG Ally for close to 6 months now (too lazy to upload). The mounting is very sturdy if you follow my assembly instructions.
*****PLEASE READ ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY*****
- Prerequisites:
- Purchase - 40ea of 1/16" Thick, 3/16" OD N52 Magnets https://www.mcmaster.com/5862K139/
- Purchase - 6ea of M2 x 0.4 mm, 2.5 mm heatset insert https://www.mcmaster.com/94459A110/
- Purchase - Superglue
- Borrow or purchase - an Iphone Magsafe Battery Bank or Magsafe Charger or Magsafe Mount
- IMPORTANT NOTE:
- I used only N52 magnets because these are the strongest magnets. I have no experience with other kinds.
- POLARITY of how you install the magnets are very important so PLEASE use an Iphone Magsafe Battery Bank or Charger or Mount as the base for assembly.
- DO NOT use an IPHONE as the base for magnet assembly - this is the REVERSE polarity you want.
- Print the 2 parts of the mount in this post. You can print the tool as well to help with assembly but I didn't use it.
- Install the 6 heatset inserts onto the “LeGo-Mag Base”.
- Place the “LeGo-Mag Base” on top of your borrowed Iphone Magsafe Mount or Charger. Align the CIRCLE of the Iphone Charger/Mount to the middle of the magnet cavities in the printed “LeGo-Mag Base”.
- Start placing magnets into the magnet cavities one by one. The magnets should stick to the cavities because of the Iphone Charger/Mount below your printed part.
- Once all magnets are filled up, put a thin layer of super glue in the recessed cavity in the “LeGo-Mag Base” and attach the printed “Magsafe Cover” on.
- DO NOT REMOVE THE IPHONE CHARGER/MOUNT until glue is dry.
- Once glue is fully dried, wait maybe 12 hours, and you can unscrew the stand on the Legion Go and then screw the replacement stand on.
