Description

I wasn't happy with any of the Gridfinity bits I found for AA or AAA batteries, so I decided to make a new one!

They're designed to be snug enough to keep batteries in place in drawers but loose enough for batteries to be easily removed from a storage without needing magnets to hold them down. I removed a lot of material between bodies to reduce the filament usage and printing time, and added some strain relief to the AA bins. I don't personally use magnets for Gridfinity but I included models with spots for 6mmx2mm round magnets on the bottom. The bins are slightly taller than 1U to keep the AA batteries more stable, and it also enables using a second AAA bin to fully enclose 9 batteries if you need to throw them in a bag.

If people like these designs, I'll start expanding them into 1x2 and 2x2 designs as well.

Have printed a few of the AA with great success. Printing AAA tonight. I'd love to see the same idea in 1x2 or 2x2 since I'm guessing that would allow for holding more batteries in the same footprint as multiple 1x1 cases.

Glad they're working for you! I spent the afternoon modeling up a 2x1 and it actually doesn't fit any more AAA batteries but I was able to squeeze in 1 more AA. The AA 2x1 uses about 3 grams less filament than printing 2 1x1 so it does end up being a little bit more efficient for filament and space, but not by a massive amount. I'm planning to run a couple more test prints then I'll upload the 2x1 and 9v versions tonight or tomorrow.

I think a 2x1 would be good. that way you could use a second one on top and use an elastic band to hold them together using the gridfinity channel.

I'm not sure what you mean by "using a second AAA bin to fully enclose 9 batteries if you need to throw them in a bag" Really love the design and having them portable is even better instead of my pulling a bunch of AAs out and putting them in a travel safe holder.
