Description

This clock is designed off the clock used in Minecraft. Like the one in Minecraft, this clock is in a 24 hour cycle or 1 hour cycle. Don't worry! You're clock kit will still work on this! In the 24 hour design theres a 2:1 ratio gear making the hour gear finish 2 rotations before the visible dail finishes 1 rotation. The 1 hour design just adds onto the minute part of the clock. Theres also options to mount it on a wall or a stand to put on your desk. I also have options of an AMS and Single color print profiles for both.

Assembly

Out of your clock kit, you'll only need these 4 parts. The functional part and the rubber piece will go behind the clock. once pushed through, put on your washer then your nut. Hand tight will work just fine.

Once you have the clock kit installed, you'll need to finish assembling the printed parts of the design. Put the small gear on the part sticking through the middle of the clock. After that, put the 3 parts needed for the front. You'll need to sandwish the dail between the knob piece and the face. This holds all the pieces together and allows smooth rotation. Once thats done, push the front piece into the clock base. You may have to move the dail around a bit to make the gears align. An option piece is the back stand, if your looking to put this on your desk or night stand. I advise using the stand, by inserting it into the keyhole shaped hole in the back. That Keyhole shaped hole can be used to mount on a wall as well. All is shown in the gif below.

Thank you so much for checking out the design! Every model I make I learn something. This model I learned a bit more about gears and how they work. I was trying to figure out how to make the clock not rotate twice a day. So i played around with ideas of how to get gears designed into the clock base with out using a ton of space. I think I came up with the best option for it and happy with the result.

If you like the model, please show your support by boosting, commenting, and giving a rating! This helps me to see what people like and how I should deisgn projects in the future. Thank you!

Update 12/15/24

I had a request for a faster version of the clock for display purposes, so it you're interested in that check it out! I renamed the existing print profiles to include “24 Hour Cycle” in the title and the new ones include “1 Hour Cycle” in them as well so you can easily tell which is which.

Is there a way to print a gear to make it spin faster? I like it as a decoration and would like it to cycle through a day in about an hour or two.

I love it! The colors honestly look great still, I almost did white for the moon but I tried to keep it as close to the game for display purposes. And thank you so much for the rating and kind words! :D

AWESOME. For anyone else with a single AMS (such as A1), it's pretty straightforward: * For the sun/moon/day/night, the painted colors are surface-level only, so just use "fill" to re-color. * For the two-tone frame, both yellow + gold are in the first 4 slots, so just place those colors in the corresponding slots. (I split the .3mf into two parts as well to simplify the bullets above -- two yellow/gold plates in one file + re-colored face plate in the other.)

Modeling can be hard but ive been doing it non stop for thr past 5 months now that ive gotten better. Just lots of practice, give yourself many different things to make. As you can see in all my models I always learn something new, either that be how something works, slicer settings, or ways to model something differently of more effiecnt. The only thing holding you back is maybe a caliper XD

Hey Dakto Make sure the gear is fully seated on the bottom ring of the clock. That bottom ring is the hours hand. Make sure the front face, the dail that shows the time of day, and the knob to hold it together is all assembled. Once it is, make sure theres no resistance and spin it. It should spin very well. Then when putting on the front, make sure the gears like up with eachother. The front wont seat right unless the gears match up. Let me know how that works out and tell me anything else that might be affecting it if needed.

I had to put some glue in the hole so it would fit and it rotates but the sun keeps getting caught on the edges of the clock.

Try scaling the Z axis to remove a couple layers and try that for the sun piece. You dont want to scale the Y or X. I might have to update a couple print profiles.

question How do you tell what time it is also how do you know if it is accurate.

So i did was set it with the sun directly up at noon and its cycles back around every noon. You could also set it at midnight with the moon striaght up. Or 6am sun to the left and moon to the right. Or 6pm moon to the left and sun to the right.

OK thank you, my nephew is going to love this. you should consider making a lamp or a chest that actually opens. that would be cool

Someone has already made a lamp using the lantern. I might do something with a chest. I try to make a print something someone will use and look like something. Like how I have my music disc jukebox coasters, a fun spin to something practical.
