Print Profile(2)

Description
This fishing reel stand is the ideal way to display your centrepin or fly-fishing reel collection. Simply slot one end of the reel foot into the cavity on the stand.

The stable and minimalist stand adds a dynamic feel to a reel display. It also adds a little height, which can aid visibility where reels are arranged in rows, creating a tiered effect.
The stand uses a minimum of filament and prints easily without supports. Printed in matte black it does not detract from the look of the reel, but feel free to experiment with colour. You can print one in about twenty five minutes with standard settings, or faster in sport or ludicrous mode. If you have a lot of reels to display you can fit up to 24 of them on a 256*256mm plate.
I have tested it on a number of reels and it fits almost all of them. You may find a very small percentage have a foot which is too big for the cavity, in which case you will have to play with scaling the object in the slicer.
The stand should work for centrepins, Nottingham reels, salmon and trout fly-fishing reels, and probably many multiplying reels. It is not intended for displaying fixed-spool reels, which are unlikely to fit - and if they did, they are more likely to be unbalanced, and would look upside down.
If you print the stand please leave a review and add a photo of your reel display.
Update 15th April 2025: I have added a new print profile which contains an improved version that benefits from a series of small fins or ribs in the cavity that serve to keep reels with smaller feet upright. I would recommend this version above the other for all users.
