Boost Me (for free)

The adapter is designed for use with small spools in AMS systems (not tested for AMSLite!).

Changed: The design has been improved based on recommendations from comments.
1 - The width of the side edges has been reduced to about 5mm.
2 - The minimum width, with the adapter screwed in all the way, has been reduced to about 10mm (now there is no need to print an additional ring :-P)
Thanks to everyone for the tips, I tried to correct all the errors.

With an outer diameter of 200 mm and an inner diameter of 51 mm, the width fits spools from a minimum of 35 mm to a maximum of 65 mm.
Personally, I use it to test new filament so as not to buy large quantities, I buy 200-250 grams.

!!!   Check your spool parameters before you start printing a given project   !!!

Very nice idea! I printed it in PETG and it came out very nice! For the pink part: After the print I recognized that Sunlus small spools are a bit to narrow and were spinning free, so I decided to print a ring out of TPU which holds the small spool in place.

Where did you find the ring? I printed this and its too wide so I think I need the ring too. Thanks

This doesn't fit in the AMS slot. The spool edge width is too wide for it to sit in the AMS like a normal spool. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it doesn't sit in there properly.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, the file has been corrected and adjusted to ams. Please check the new files again.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong... the print came out perfectly, the screw works well, and the small spool I had lying around fits nicely inside. However, I can't get it to fit in my Bambu AMS at all; specifically, the outer edge is too thick to fit inbetween the 'guide fins'. The spool can't go next to them, either, because it will sit on the gearbox instead of the rollers. I redownloaded the files to ensure I didn't accidentally scale it, and established it printed neatly at the 7mm specified in the design for both sides. I reduced the design to a test ring that was quick to print, and trimmed the edge down to steps of 6mm and 5mm. Only the 5mm step would roll freely, so it doesn't come down to a single layer. I looked at the files for a bunch of other adapters, and they were all 3-5mm. Evidently, it seems to work fine for everyone else, so please let me know what I'm getting wrong here. Thank you!

I use this adapter all the time and have no problems. There are restrictions on the left side inside, maybe you are not inserting the adapter into the AMS correctly?

Thank you for your reply. In your photos, it looks like the left side is only about 5mm on the tape measure, and noticeably thinner than the right side? In the files, both sides are 7mm and flush with each other, which is how I printed it.

I'm already checking the files and will correct both sides to 5mm and reduce the minimum width. Thank you for your understanding.

Hey thanks for the excellent design. Sadly with all the varying dimensions of smaller spools the original was too thick for my roll of 3D Genius 500g Rainbow multi color PLA. So I had to trim down the inside ridge and slim the outside ring from 5mm to 3mm. While its a tad flimsy its not too bad and works perfectly with my ams now. You mind if I post a remix with the thinner version?

Can you send me the dimensions of this small spool? I would design a specific adapter for it😉

OD 160mm/ ID 53.6mm. /Width 64mm. Its a 500 gram spool that seems a bit on the wider side. The inner diameter of the original adapter fits perfect so likely keep that the same. I trimmed away the ridges on the inner diameters of both sides saving a few mm. And slimmed down the outer diameter rings down to 2mm each. While its a bit more flimsy than I'd prefer..its not that bad and wont break unless mishandled. Printed from PLA and just finished a 13 hr print with no issues.

Works great and the screw works flawlessly! Honestly I didn’t realize how much I needed this print until I started using it.
