UPDATE: NEW V3 OUT! https://makerworld.com/en/models/884833#profileId-839698

Tired of cleaning your build plate all the time? Accidentally touch your plate too often?

I designed this handle assembly to attach to your build plate and give you a secure place to grab the plate that won't result in you touching it and contaminating the surface. The assembly is simple; align the two halves of the shell and thread the nuts. Then, place the build plate into the lips and tighten the nuts with a wrench or pliers until secure. Do not overtighten! If you do so, the threads may break.

A must-have for all printers! Results in way less need for cleaning over time and is semi-permanent. Can also be removed at will if needed.

Newly updated with profiles for all four printers! Also added a notch specifically for Bambu plates to grip it a little better. Preserved the original files in the “generic” profiles for use with non-Bambu plates.

NEWLY UPDATED V2: https://makerworld.com/en/models/838997#profileId-784773

Stronger, easier to install, and works with X1/P1. Loses a bit of the grip strength so if you're wanting to keep that try the Heavy Duty profile for added thickness but better grip strength.

this new version for the X1 has no problems closing the door on the printer. It printed well however since the 3d print is smaller to be able close the X1 Carbon door it’s not as strong as the original version. When you attempt to take the build plate off the printer it does not feel as solid. I will try it for a while to see how it functions before I print another handle for my other X1 Carbon and the extra build plates. thanks again for the modification to be able try out on the X1 Carbon!

let me know when you have a stronger version and I will try it out. I currently have my two X1 Carbon printers tied up printing until late tomorrow Sunday. I will probably not be able to print a new version until late Sunday afternoon. I live in South Florida so it’s Easter time. Regards Ed

I like this handle as it’s gives a nice large place to grab the build plate. I wasn’t a big fan of the assembly, the little nuts are a bit finicky, and I would have liked to see some alignment mechanism using the holes in the build plate. But overall a good model.

I have a few non-Bambu plates that don’t have the holes. wanted to make sure this worked with those as well

printed well but I can’t use it on my X1carbon since the door would not be closed.

Can you measure the distance between the door and the plate?

approximately 2cm from the end of the plate to the glass door.

Editing this and giving 5 stars because I mistakenly blamed my printer going haywire on the hot end running into the handle. I have had the printer go nuts twice since removing the handle, the print head slamming into the front right side (presumably from the SD card from my research). The nozzle has no business being that far off the print bed. My apologies and I will reattach the handle once I've seen that the printer is operating normally.it's a great print, well engineered and looks awesome!

you should be able to position it so that the extruder doesn’t hit it

Sorry mate, I corrected the rating. Seems a bad SD card is to blame, not your design. Great accessory, I will re-attach and carry on! Thank you!

very useful to keep the fingers off the plate while removing parts or cleaning the plate. Printed in transparent PETG. Handles hold fast, at least on the original plates.

It only holds the corner while the other end is a bit loose but it works great

feels super study i love it. assembled easily too. the print is plot into two halves with 3 screw nuts. the screws and nuts add tons of support. makes cleaning and lifting it a lot easier.
