Description

Hi, Sorry for the horrible pictures. Please read this description instead:

 

This is a project I created for my lab, researching static electricity.

 

The actual model is two parallel plates on screws.

The screws are coupled by a center gear, so when you turn the knob, both screws turn.

 

This changes the distance between the plates while keeping them parallel.

 

This is a set of parallel plates. On each plate I attached metal foil and provided 1 million Volts. This generates a very strong electric field on the order of 10^6 V/M.

The plates are adjustable in distance so at 1 cm vs 100cm apart the output electric field is 100x stronger and so on.
