Celebrate Christmas 2023 with ornaments that can tile the plane aperiodically! 2023 was an exciting year for those of us obsessed with tessellations. Several new shapes that can tile the plane without repetion were announced. The spectre tile is, I think, the prettiest of them.

I designed this ornament in Illustrator and placed holes at each vertex so they can be hung from any vertex or connected together. Initially, I designed this at a smaller scale, but printed at 100 mm wide they are terrific Christmas ornaments and also great as toys if you print a bunch of them.

I am printing them on the Bambu Lab A1, but in principle you could print them on another printer and paint the top surface.
