Description

In making a shelf for an cart I purchased on Amazon for use as a filament rack ( link) a friend suggest I make a smaller desktop version. This Desktop filament rack holds 6 1kg reels of filament. I'm also using one to hold general hobby supplies. I've also modeled the bars to hold the shelves up, but if you wanted to save print time 3/8th PEX-B piping works perfectly fine (The white bars in the third picture). Please be sure to rate my profile when your done printing if everything came out correctly.

Dimensions

Shelf : 263mm (14 ½") H x 237mm (9 ⅓") L x 216mm (8 ½") W

Bar: 292mm (11 ½") L x 12.70mm (½") W

Assembly:

  1. Print the shelf model twice.
  2. Print the bar model four times. (Or cut 4 11 ½" (292mm) pieces of 3/8" PEX-B pipe.)
  3. The bars should fit snuggly into the holes and enjoy a job well done.

Random Thoughts:

The overall filament usage based on my 3mf settings should be about 198.48Gs or $3.37 if your filament was 17$ a 1kg.

This should be print perfectly fine in PLA, ABS or PETG. This project was a great way for me to use up some of the 1kg spool of yellow ABS I got on deep discount from Microcenter (5$).
