Description

I built an enclosure for my printer and used ducting to vent it out a wall of my home.

The vent I installed from Lowe's from Imperial Model #VTL0054-A did not come with a protective screen to keep out birds and other pests. Naturally, this seemed like a great thing to rectify. So, I made a simple mesh screen that snaps in. The interesting thing is, the vent did come with cut-outs to accept a screen, they just couldn't be bothered to include it.

I noticed there is quite a bit of variance between the opening shape and sizes of these vents. Mine had 4 mm-7 mm difference in width from one side to the other. So, this may need to be scaled up or down slightly to meet the sloppy quality control of these vents.

The heat from the exhaust seems to be warping the PLA slightly but it works just fine. It may be better to print it in PETG or ASA perhaps to achieve better heat resistance. However, I do not have either of those filaments available currently.

Perhaps, but what if it's linked to a bathroom exhaust fan or an exhaust fan for your 3D printer?
