Tripp Trapp Trofast adapters (plastic & wired box)

Ikea Trofast plastic (old & new model) and wired boxes' adapters for Stokke Tripp Trapp chair!

With these adapters you can attach an Ikea Trofast box (plastic and wired) to a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair. All adapter models are held on the box by themselves. I have noticed that some Trofast plastic boxes have slight tolerance difference and a dab of glue would help these to stay on securely.

Ikea has released new model of the plastic box at around the start of 2025. The new box is slight different from the old box and thus it needs different adapters. The new adapters are included in the print profile on a separate plate. You can tell which box you have as the new one is a solid color whereas the old one was a bit translucent. I cannot provide the part number for the old one but the new one's part number is 505.820.72 (at least in Finland). 

The wired boxes are completely different and require a different set of adapters and these too are included in the print profile on a separate plate.

The sides of the adapters make full contact to the chair so the box holds more weight and still slides in and out of the chair making the use of the box hassel free. Other similar models don't have a curved side making it possible for the box to fall off while the models that attach to the chair itself seem to be quite brittle.

Printing instructions

These models work with PLA. I advise to use brim because the ends tend to lift from the bed is no brim is used. No need for supports as the models have a flat bottom and can be printed that way. 3 walls and 12 % line infill are sufficient. Gyroid is great, but shakes the bed too much in my opinion. Pretty much the only probelm you could face in this print are the first 8 layers of overhang. If you encounter quality issues, try to print a overhang test and change your settings accordingly.
