Description

Make this Christmas extra cozy with your own giant building brick Christmas tree! Bring the holidays to your desk, your living room, the porch, wherever you want to make this Christmas look even better!

This is my own version of the building brick number 2417 “plant leaves 6x5”, remodeled to resemble a Christmas tree. The studs for my own version of the giant building brick holiday wreath are compatible with this model. The studs available online for other versions of the giant building brick wreath branches should also fit this tree (just like they would fit on my version of the wreath branches).

There are three versions of the trunk, pick the one you think is best fitting for your Christmas tree!

  • A blank trunk with no studs;
  • A trunk with closed studs (unusable for putting decorative studs on);
  • A trunk with open studs (you can put studs on these like on the branches!).

How to make your very own giant building bricks Christmas tree

First, the branches of the tree need to be glued together, there are six holes for pieces of 1.75mm filament that help with alignment and rigidity.

→ Maximum depth of these holes is 15mm so make sure the pieces of filament are shorter. Please test-fit before using glue!

→ Be gentle with the amount of glue, CA glue can leave behind ugly white marks/spots

Secondly, the branches that were combined into a tree in the first step can optionally be glued to the trunk, there are two holes for pieces of 1.75mm filament that help with alignment and rigidity. Make sure you pick the right trunk when you want to use glue, i've noticed that the pieces of filament are enough to keep things in place when the tree is stationary in an indoor environment (be careful when decorating though!).

Lastly, put the trunk through the hole in the pot-cover and stick the trunk in the hole in the pot.

→ Tip: You can put sand in the pot to give it more stability when placing the Christmas tree outside (like on the porch)

The Christmas tree available in the print profile has the following advantages and optimalizations:

You can lock down your studs with locking pins
  • Can be fully printed without supports;
  • Compatible with a lot of available decorative studs found online, not just the ones i made;
  • The decorative studs can be locked in place with a locking pin.

Keep in mind when preparing for printing:

  • The locking pins will only work on my models, not on other studs/branches available online. The studs can be fitted without the locking pins though, the locking pins are optional and just to keep them extra secure!

Included files are:

  • The branches to make the tree;
  • Three different kinds of trunks;
  • The pot cover;
  • The pot.

The fact that you're looking at a model i made is already a huge compliment! If you could spare a boost that would really make my day!
