Assembly Instructions:

Parts required (refer to the photos below)

  • 20x Hexagon Blocks (a)
  • 12x Pentagon Blocks (b)
  • 35x Small Pin (e)

Assembly process:

  1. STEP 1a: Press-fit 5x Small pins into the holes of a Pentagon Block
  2. STEP 1b: Press-fit 5x Hexagon Blocks to all 5x sides of the Pentagon block above. Use small pins to interlock all blocks together
  3. STEP 1c: Press-fit 5x Pentagon Blocks to the sub-assembly from STEP 1b. Use small pins to interlock all blocks together
  4. STEP 1d: Press-fit 5x Hexagon Blocks to the sub-assembly from STEP 1c. Use small pins to interlock all blocks together

At this point, you’ve built half of the soccer ball. Repeat the same steps as above to build the other half. To connect 2x halves of the sphere together, you can either use the small pins, or some 5mm dia x 3mm thick magnets.

What an interesting design. I'm curious what advantages there are to printing the individual blocks + assembly versus just printing the whole ball.

Thank you - it’s just more fun to assemble all the pieces together rather than printing the whole thing all together 😅🙏

It's very interesting design! I love it! Could you help provide an all-in-one print profile? So we can print them directly and will not miss any part.

What size is the ball after assembly? Deciding how big to make it. Does it scale well?
