Ho Ho Ho, and a Merry Christmas!

Presenting the 6.7 grams Christmas Twisting Ornament! (Smaller version at around 3.4 grams is also available!)

Easy to print, easy to assemble and easy to enjoy!

After the extremely positive response to my Christmas Gift Bow, I got inspired to mess around with similar flat designs.

As I was playing around with designing something else entirely, I suddenly created something.. Different. It took my entire attention, and about 40 different test-prints and iterations.. Here we are!

Assembly

Assembly is done by grabbing the two opposite solid corners and overlap them with a twisting motion, lining up the two pegs with the holes and inserting them.
The tension will keep the pegs locked in!

Disassembly is simply reverse of assembly.
Since you can disassemble the ornament, it can be stored completely flat, taking up almost no space!

Tolerance/Print Settings

The tolerances for this print are quite tight (around 0.25mm). So, you have to make sure your First Layer is just right, and perhaps adjust your Z-offset, Flow Rate, etc. - You know, all the standard stuff to calibrate a printer.

If you experience that only the first layer is merging together, you may need to adjust your Elephant's Foot Compensation.

Bambu Printers

With a Bambu Lab printer, you should be ready to go by just hitting “Print”.
But please remember to check, if you have the correct Build Plate selected in Bambu Studio. For example, when having the Textured Build Plate selected, the Z-offset is automatically lowered just a bit, to account for the unevenness in the Textured surface. This might result in a too low first layer, when using a smooth plate.

If it still fails, do not worry!
I will be uploading a separate model with higher tolerances, within the next few days.

Merry Christmas and Happy Printing!

Yes, this final version of the model is actually quite simple in design - but that doesn't mean it just happened on the first try. Unfortunately…

Here are some of the latest iterations, before I got everything “just right”.
