The Type 055 guided-missile destroyer measures 180 meters in length and 22 meters in width, with a full-load displacement of approximately 12,000 to 13,000 tons. Its powerful single-ship combat capability and systematized collaborative combat capability can provide a more reliable "air umbrella" for China's Navy's aircraft carrier battle groups and surface combat ship battle groups, which is of great significance for perfecting the structure of China's Navy's weapons and equipment system and building a world-class navy.

In terms of weapon systems, the Type 055 guided-missile destroyer's vertical launch system can mix and match various missiles, carrying more than 100 missiles. It is the first to achieve integrated air defense and anti-missile capabilities, and is equipped with a dual-band phased-array radar, providing a more acute "sight" and a more intelligent "brain" for organizing and commanding air defense and anti-missile operations.
