Description

JD FOLDABLE POCKET COMB V4.1

HANDY POCKET SIZE COMB FOR HAIR - FUR - BEARD

Messy hair? Messy beard? Messy dog?

Fear no more, for the solution is here… Now upgraded!

  • STRONG TEETH - for clots of fur or tangled hair
  • SMALL AND POCKETABLE - with great ergonomics
  • STYLISH LOOKS - in your hand and on the desk
  • ROUNDED TEETH - each tooth has a rounded cylinder, making the comb less prone to scratching the scalp

V4.1 updates: (2024-11-15)

  • Easier assembly: Many wrote that they have issues assembling. I must confess that my finger strength is probably way beyond the average, due to being a piano and guitar player as well as speed cuber. I made the hole in the hinged part of the comb larger, so it's easier to press-fit.
  • Adjusted position on the build plate for better part cooling on the shell's overhangs and better build plate adherence of the comb's teeth: Noone really had issues with this, but I'm very picky with overhang quality, and I had very rare print failures when print the comb part with PETG-HF, and this 4.1 iteration has eliminated these failures fully.
  • Minor slicer setting adjustments, mainly to the speeds of the shell, which can be printed a bit faster without sacrificing any quality.

V4 updates:

  • Stronger hinge with better and much more secure fit
  • Thicker in your hand for more comfortable use

---------------------------------------------------

ASSEMBLY

1: Position the comb part with the shell

2: Press it into place: Force is required, but be careful not to break the comb while pressing it into place!

If you look for a comb that's faster to print, try the old v3.1:

It's really great design! The only improvement I'd suggest to make is to make the connection a bit less tight, as I couldn't assemble it until I just took pliers and removed ~1mm of plastic from the hinge I'd also want it to 'lock' in opened position (similar to how to does it in closed position)

Can you explain how you did that. I’m not sure what tool to use and how did you get the plastic off the hinge. I printed this twice and I’m stuck. Thanks.

Just cut off the corners of the comb head connector with a pliers. Essentially to make the round cutoff wider.

Love it. I did print it at 150% as I like a bit more space between the tines. But great design. It is already in my travel bag. Thanks

Thanks for the boost! Does it work nicely at 150%? What I mean is; if the hinge and lock-in-place when folded mechanisms are working as they should...?

I printed both parts in PETG. It was impossible to click the hinge in place, so I had to cut the opening just a tiny bit wider. The lock in place works perfectly. When opened it is a bit loose, but I don't mind that.

Looks like I'm not the only one having a problem with the hinge :) But I printed mine in PLA

Hi and thanks for the review: A new v4.1 has just been released (2 1/2 hours after your review). This version has more room for joining the hinge of the parts, making it noticeably easier to assemble.

It was luck :) I had the alteration done two days ago but had no time to test it properly before a 2-day business trip. I got home late yesterday, tested, revised, reprinted and today I was (finally) ready to release the change.

I printed both parts in PETG, to fit them I had to use a little force, but it fit, thank you for sharing!

Great compact comb and looks cool, but needed sanding to get it to fit.
