Description

Ditch the paper and make something better!

Around my house during the holidays, people are always given gift cards in wrapping paper or little cardboard boxes that are immediately thrown away. That's a lot of waste! I decided to make something that could be reused over and over again for any occasion, birthdays, Christmas, you name it! Print this out for all your loved ones and keep the box for the next event or let them have it, telling them to use it for whatever gift they have to give out next as well!

Printing and Assembly

Bridging is the name of the game for this print. The “ribbon” around the box slots right into the frame, allowing for this to printed without the need of an AMS (and it saves on all those tool head changes too!). This means on the box itself, there is quite a lot of bridging done, but in the 3mf file I've turn bridging direction to 45 degrees, which helps get the job done. Any Bambu machine should be able to do this job with only minimal small defects. If they're blocking you from placing the ribbon inserts, simply take some pliers or another cutting tool, and remove the small defects.

You'll notice that one of the ribbon inserts will have a small hole in it for the bow, this one is meant for the top piece, as you want your bow to be on top where everyone can see it!

If you're having trouble getting pieces to fit in, that's okay, this was specifically designed to have very tight tolerances to keep everything together. There's nothing wrong with placing it on a table and putting your weight on it until the pieces fit into place. Unless your print has somehow become warped, there is no reason why they shouldn't fit together (I went ahead and printed this out multiple times and tested it just to be sure).

The bow itself might need to be super glued into it's hole, as in some cases it can come loose even if its in snug. You may also glue down the grey card insert into the bottom of the box, but I've designed this insert to easily come out with a little bit of coaxing.

This is perfect! I printed it on holographic plates to make it really festive. My mom will get a kick out of it.

nice design , real great cut parts, ribbon is a bit too tight fitting by the way: "Das Filament" in "GrünGold" and "MetallicRed"

Overall design is good, but would like to see the card more secured to the inner plate. My print didn't have any type of lip or insert that binds the card to the inner plate. It just flops around inside. It could be user error, but I didn't modify anything to the design and didn't appear to have print issues.
