Description

Honeycomb sided edition of the Bambu refillable spool. Photos show 2 versions, one is with infill, the other is 100% Rectilinear. The 100% takes a bit longer but looks much nicer with transparent PLA to match the original Bambu spools.

Printed well, looks great, but doesn't work in my AMS. The rollers don't get any traction on retraction. Tried cleaning the rollers, but still no good. Seems like maybe the spool is too wide? Anyone else have this issue?

Csnt say I’ve had this issue, but have you tried scuffing up the edge of the spool?

I have not. Is there a preferred / recommended way to do that?

I guess some sandpaper but I’ve never heard of this being an issue and have nearly 20k downloads.

Spool Markers - Complete Set 0.12mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill
First layer was bad. I’m sure it’s all my fault to be fair.

What plate did you use? I recommend a textured PEI plate for these.

I was very curious about using a pei plate. I had one on my old Sovol and I loved it but I kept reading how the textured plates seem to mess with LiDAR. I then thought to myself that’s an expensive sensor so I should probably not disrupt it. Im sure that I’m wrong. lol

The biggest problem I've had using a PEI plate is it gets dirty and then filament doesn't stick. Once I wipe it down, it works perfectly fine. You won't break or harm the LiDAR sensor in any way by using a PEI plate.

it started out as your profile but I did duplicate some and focused more on what I would need with an A1 mini being my only multi color printer and also changed the initial layer line width as it was leaving some odd spots on the lettering. I will upload it here shortly for anyone else that has similar needs. Edit: I added a print profile for anyone that would like to use it and would like to focus more on PLA/PETG. Thanks!

The first layer I think was to fast. It still finished printing though. All around solid spool and uses less material!

Did you do bed levelling before you printed? looks like nozzle is too high or underextruding

If you use PLA with correct print profile, I would say your PEI plate is greasy or not clean enough. I have similar problems with my new smooth PEI plate - after few good prints adhesion of first layer has rapidly worsen, no matter how I cleaned or de-greased plate. So I try to use glue, very thin layer (simple glue stick originally used on paper). This process is also recommended when using PLA with smooth PEI plate. With this glue all prints holds perfectly, with perfect first layer. And glue remains can be washed away with hot water.

what can I say, it a spool that works great and it doesn’t use much filament to print. Fits my cereal dry box on my desiccant/ hydrometer /rollers.👍🏼

Just printing the spool out now. Note that using PETG makes the honeycomb walls of the spool quite flexible compared to the originals. I'm not sure if this will be an issue and is really just an observation at this stage. I might need to use PLA instead. Let see how it goes. The "L" in the PLA model seems to be at the wrong height when I paint it and lay it flat on the bed. Can this be corrected? Also I would suggest using a slightly larger font if possible to allow for better infill in the letters (See the "A" as an example here.)

Hi, there was an error in the PLA+ marker. I've corrected this and uploaded in the RAW files section as 'Marker PLA+ NEW'

Awesome. That's it sorted. As a general comment, do you have any thoughts on the font size?

I kept them all the same, but feel free to do your own, there’s a blank in the raw files. I set extrude on the lettering to 0.05mm, just so it’s easy to fill in Bambu Studio
