Description

X1C - P1P - P1S TOOLBOX // Modular hotend edition

/ Print-in-place

This design is based on my earlier print-in-place box. This box is made to complete my print-in-place toolbox lineup. It has space for every component that comes with the printer and can accomodate smaller spare parts and hotend parts on a designated hotend tray.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • When closing the latch, it reaches is designated ‘closed’ state by deforming. If you choose to print it from a more rigid material you might need to file it to reach perfect closing. If you print it from a more flexible material like PETG, your print should work without any filing. If you find closing difficult, file the surface shown below.

  • There are multiple overhangs where support used, but sometimes they are hard to spot. Pay attention to these places, because missing to remove support can cause headaches.

  • The small parts on the photo above you can see small latches for the container covers. You can insert them by slightly bending the container covers ( gently:D)

If you are printing the models on non-Bambulab printers please bare in mind the following:

  • Use support at the bottom part of the lock, at the inner cavity of the small enclosures lock and at the logo seating
  • Prevent using any support on the hinges and on the hinge of the lock.
  • Increase infill at the hinge section and its close proximity.

In case you have any feedback, feel free to share.
Im curious to see what you make of the model. If you print one please post a photo of it as an inspiration for others.

Cool case, but parts dont really stick in place. Which means when closing the lid, everything falls out of place. And there is no room for a complete hotend assembly.

The tray should not go in the top half of the box. It should sit ot top of the bottom half facing upwards. This way nothing falls out☺️

I have to admit, I came into this rating ready to rip on this print. Nothing seemed to fit right. Allen keys, spare cutter blades, hot ends, all falling out and the door not closing because it seemed not be tall enough. Then I came into this review and noticed all of the likes. I figured I had to be doing something wrong and I found out really fast that I was. It turns out everything about this tool box is perfect except for the designers representation of it. Every picture shows it either with the inner tray placed in the lid or out of the box completely. There is no reference that I can find anywhere explaining that the tray stacks on top of the goodies in the bottom and that the lid is just a lid. In one pic it even shows documentation in the lid which made me believe is a place to stash stuff behind the tray. UGG, I was really frustrated when I thought that this thing had sooo many issues. As it turns out this thing is a great box! The print on my X1-C was flawless. The latch needed a bit of filing as the designer mentioned it might but that took less than a minute to resolve. This easily gets 5 stars and a boost from me. Thank you for a great product

Lower it 3mm above the printing plate, some parts will be bottomless but everything will be fine and you'll be able to close the box properly I did it and it worked

I realized where the issue is: the tray is supposed to stack on top of the bottom when closed, not with the top in a clam-shell style. It works for me now.

I have printed this tool box for my X1C's and A1's accessories. I love the look, the finish, and that has a space for everything. The only thing I wish there was a version to store the complete hot ends, I don't have where to store them nicely.

Awesome design. My only suggestion would be to have a tray that can contain at least one complete hotend.

I am planning to make one toolbox that can accomodate full hotends, and planning a separate box for purely hotends:) Thanks for the recommendation ( I like your chosen colors:))

I love this!! I'm curious though about what that top long space is for? Above the hot end.

@invoker Based on the pictures posted by the original designer, the inserts on the top of the hotends are suitable for the storage of the ceramic heater and thermistor cartridges.

as described well above, slight filing on main latch and container cover latches was required when printed with PLA. Came out looking great! thank you!
