Description

An articulated print-in-place ruler, each section is one inch! I use this for wargaming, the starting end is curved so you can measure from your base. Perfect for measuring around corners!

I've uploaded 4, 6, 8 and 12 inch variants, but also included the pieces so you can assemble other lengths in your preferred slicer or CAD program.

You need to apply a little force to snap the articulated parts free.

The numbers are added on in the slicer, so you can remove them or change them in any way you want.

DnD edition available here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/697674#profileId-626746

This is awesome, thanks! The joints came out a little tight, I wonder if a bit more space could be added to make it easier to flex?

The spacing currently is indeed only 0.3 mm, I tested 0.5 at first but found it a bit too loose for my liking, but its a good idea - I'll upload models with a bit looser tolerances as well when morning comes!

I posted a new print profile with slightly increased tolerances, if you try it do let me know if it's enough or should I increase them a bit more still

Great idea and super easy to print. Don’t need a ruler with these. Well done.

would be awesome if you could make a D&D version where every inch stands for 5 foot. So the links are 5-10-15-20-25-30

Excellent. I wonder if a 16 inch one would be possible? One Page Rules fast units, lol.

I considered it but thought that it would get a bit tooo long so I personally use 12 and 4 in series for that😄

Hey, I haven't used Cura myself but on Prusa/Bambu slicers there is an option to add extruded text. I will update the files with numbers already on them though, check back in 10 min or so

Unfortunately I'm unable to print it successfully using PLA+. I tried many settings, but the chains are always strongly connected to each other. When I use force to make it move, it breaks completely. Any Ideas?

What temperatures and fan speeds are you using? My first idea is that it gets too little cooling and fuses with the lower layer too much

You didn't have it in centimeters

Since I made it for wargaming uses, centimeters aren't really used for that even though I am from Europe😄
