Description

I designed this to utilise the A1 Spool tensioner from the AMS lite to create a quick easy spool holder for the X1C.

 

It allows for smooth turns of the spool while holding mild tension on the filament.

 

Print file tested on Bambu's smooth high temp plate using Bambu ABS material. This has also been tested and works in PLA-CF. Likely other materials are fine but I've not personally tested them on either profile.

 

Please note the STL files & Profiles between ABS and PLA-CF differ to suit each material.

 

The first plate on the file is the side spool mount with dovetails so the AMS Lite 4in1 hub can be mounted above the spool.

 

The Second plate is the same mount but this doesn't have the dovetails to attach the AMS Lite hub bracket.

 

Fitting instructions; ideally use a threading tool to re-thread the M10 push fit fitting on the spool mount, this is a tight fit. It can be fitted without re-threading it with a little force. Be warned the AMS rotary spool holder once pushed on can be difficult to remove as this is also a tight fit. The AMS Lite bracket fits in reverse to how its printed on the plate, these can normally be pushed in place by hand depending on your filament calibration, if not you can gently tap them in place with a small hammer.

 

Where as the ABS profile print is fine and does the job the same, the PLA-CF profile and material give it an almost factory look to the print.

 

Many hours went into creating this and a fair few test prints have been done to create the perfect profile to get it too print correctly, neither the ABS or PLA-CF are standard BS profiles. I advise you print them directly for the best results.

First plate of this print.

1x M10 Through push fit.

2x 20mm M3 Countersunk screws

1x AMS lite Rotary Spool Holder (GREEN). AMS lite Rotary Spool Holder | Bambu Lab UK

Extras required AMS Hub extension

1x AMS lite Filament Hub. AMS lite Filament Hub | Bambu Lab UK

1x 12"Inch Bambu PTFE Tube.

came out pretty awesome with eSun PLA-CF on generic settings. support inside of the the indentation for the push fitting was a bit harder to remove. but im pretty satisfied with the result. FYI: I accidentally ordered the yellow ams lite spool holder. fits the rid pretty snug and rotates both directions with a spool. since there is no motors involved, I see no problem using the yellow holder as well, or the other way round: I see no reason for using especially the green holder.

thats good too know, i didnt have the yellow version here to try on it. yes that push fit thread i may revise so the ptfe pipe pushes into the print without it, the supports had to be tightened up for the spool part which in turn makes it pretty differcult on that part. comments like this a much appricated

the spool part or holder the ams files nearly just fell of xD wasnt a big problem. just had to fiddle around with the thread part of the push fitting. thats it. i will keep you updated when its fully assembled (push fitting comes tomorow), just test fitted the spool holder this morning. was a snug fit to press onto and the spool could spin in both directions. i just think on the actuall ams lite the green and yellow hast something to do with the motors to click in, which is not needed

Amazing job by the designer. Wonder if you could design one with 2 AMS spools? I printed mine with Bambu PLA-CF. just waiting for the AMS lite Rotary Spool Holder to arrive.

Thank you much really like your idea works great or at least it looks great. Did not actually try it yet but I am sure it works great. I ran the fillament through everything and it goes right into the Hot end with no obstructions. So when I am ready to try my more abrasive filament will put it to the test.

hi make sure the bit whre the magnet was snaped off is filled flat. then put the adapter onto the ams light, then screw the m10 push fit in. i had this happen on one of the workshop printers and also added a small amount of ptfe tape just to stop it being able to wiggle free again. it only happened on 1 printer which was abit odd but this seemed to solve it

Great design overall. the supports in the tube fitting section were a bit of a pain to get out but overall an easy print.
