I really like the drill stops designed by mishkin2, but I found it pretty hard to grab the right size on the first view.
After printing them in different colors, it worked better but still I had to remember which color belongs to which diameter. Therefore I decided to make it even easier to use:
I created some very fast and easy to print color coding rings for my drills which are printed in the same color as the depth stops.
The rings can be mounted on the drills shank, ideally directly below the drills body or neck.
This way I can directly see on the first look which drill belongs to which depth stop and the way around.
The rings should fit pretty tightly to the drills shank. I found it easiest to mount them via the drills body and push them down instead of trying to push them up along the shank.
I would recommend to print the rings with some brim, otherwise they might get loose pretty easy during printing. Every size down to 5 mm works nicely with a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.12mm layer height.
Anything below I would propose to print with a 0.2mm nozzle instead.
I also attached a parametric Fusion 360 model for the color code rings, so that you can also adjust them to your needed drill diameters:
Just change the “Drill__Color_Code v7 Bohrung1_HoleDiameter” to your needed drill diameter. All other parameters should adjust accordingly with exception of the text, that you can change in the sketch.
