Description

The Aircraft

Lockheed C-130 Hercules

  • Description: The C-130 Hercules is a versatile, medium-lift, four-engine turboprop transport aircraft. Its high-wing design, rear-loading ramp, and rugged construction make it capable of operating from short, unpaved airstrips, allowing it to carry troops, cargo, vehicles, and perform a variety of roles.
  • Development History: Developed by Lockheed in response to a 1951 U.S. Air Force requirement for a tactical transport aircraft, the C-130 first flew in 1954 and entered service in 1956. Its adaptability and reliability quickly made it an essential asset for airlift missions.
  • Major Accomplishments: The C-130 has earned a reputation as one of the most versatile and successful military aircraft in history. It has served in nearly every major U.S. conflict since the 1960s, including the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan operations. It has also been adapted for various missions, including search and rescue, weather reconnaissance, maritime patrol, aerial refueling, and as the formidable AC-130 gunship. The C-130 is still in production today, with over 60 years of continuous service, making it one of the longest-running military aircraft production programs in history.

The Model

This aircraft will go together beautifully for you and may not even require glue! Please refer to the pictures for details, but things should make sense if you test fit them first.

As always, please share your builds! I LOVE seeing what you all do with these!

Update

I added a 2nd plate with 4 6-bladed props so you can upgrade your Herc to a J-model!  Thanks to Captain Grits for the suggestion!

Boost Me (for free)

Your boost is a tremendous help toward developing more models as they help me keep buying that sweet Bambu filament! THANK YOU!
