Description

I saw πxel8ed version of the suspended millenium falcon and i was inspired to make my own version..
i thought making the ship facing front with the strings looking like the streaking of lightspeed.. the falcon model by aaskedall from thingerverse was already a great design so i just used his model as a remix.. i did have to slightly change the model so it will print for a smaller version for my suspended millenium falcon..

UPDATE:

I have uploaded a new version model V3 that can be color picked for multicolor printing.. just learned how to do it.. unfortunately i cant edit the old print profile.. so you'll have to add them manually

UPDATE 2:

I made a LED version of the suspended millennium falcon that is backlite using led strips.. it is an addon part that will connected to the suspended ship.. so you just have to print the addon LED parts only.. not the whole ship..
i've upload the file at https://makerworld.com/models/113145

Thank you so much for this, it looks exceptional, cannot believe it, I am an absolute beginner, and to still be able to print something like this, in one go, incredible. The Force is strong in you I also did my first ever youtube with the timelapse of this 🎥 https://youtu.be/uzzCmXfWzKA?si=ilydGPjidBriOlWE (lighting is just LED stuck to the back and textured plate black flat print, would look better with a bigger box enclosure and more angled lighting, this was a quick display set-up, but a more planned, designed one will make this look even better) Amazing model

Have you noticed the bottom of the model (main milenium falcon model) is lower than the outer ring? Its off by .6mm on the V3 model, V2 is good

it's kind of difficult to capture good photos but R2 and C3PO say hi! You can barely make out my Millennium Falcon and X-Wing as well!.. more stuff on the back side and on my other arm 😅

How much did you scale it down to fit? I am printing it at 97 % as 98 % was more than 180 mm

it worked without anything for me. got lucky. my kid broke the strings about an hour after it finished so had to glue it with a stand.

Printed beautifully with no issues. Used a Gold/Silver Silky PLA with stunning results. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, the stl version has wrongly arranged stripes. The 3mf version loads correctly. Can you check this for yourself?

3 color print using the multicolor print version. Note I had to make one change to the Arachne settings to make the bridging filaments be more consistent in their strength. I was having issues with some of them being narrowed and failing. Increase the Minimum wall width to be 100% under the Wall generator. What I found was that on some layers without this setting there would be a small outer wall that would clip the support of the bridging strands. Increasing this to 100% seemed to mostly have fixed that problem. You can see though that there were probably about 10-15 mostly all on one side that just didn't want to bridge properly. I manually removed these as it was printing to ease to removal later. There was plenty of time through color changes that allowed me to reach in with a side cutter and clip out the obvious disconnected strands. Took about 34 hours to print.

Took quite awhile with the color changed but worth it. One row failed but I blame the filament being a different brand.
