Easy-to-print toy for young and old.
A rubber cord or a hair tie with a diameter of 2-3 mm is required for assembly.
I have created two prefabricated profiles, a completely colorful caterpillar for those who have too many different filament rolls and one that is visually based on "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" (only 4 colors are needed for this).
I have also uploaded a Cusom profile where you can put together your own caterpillar as you wish. There are also other head types stored here.
Tip: if you print via smartphone, you can simply specify the number of parts to be printed
The assembly:
Once all the parts have been printed (I recommend at least 5 centerpieces), thread the rubber band through the holes and tie a knot at the end. Caution: before tying the second knot, tighten the rubber band so that the individual parts are pressed together firmly. Otherwise the parts will be too loose and will not stay in position.
At the end, the nose and tip need to be pressed into the respective holes (note that the parts have 0 tolerance, it is best to press them in on a flat surface). The same applies to the eyes. This ensures that the parts are super tight and can no longer be removed. If you want to be absolutely sure (e.g. if the caterpillar is for a small child), the small parts can also be glued in place.
Happy printing! :)
