Note: when trimming this profile to length in the slicer, please don't use the scale feature since this would mess up the threaded hole. Use a Z cut instead.
This is a 3030 aluminum extrusion profile optimized for 3d printing. This is part of a 3030 series I'm making to substitute for off-the-shelf 3030 parts. They're particularly useful for non-demanding applications such as shelves or small frames. When printed from PLA it's quite rigid.
Weight: 500g/meter, or 100g for a 200mm beam (50% lighter than aluminum).
Features
- Standard 3030 profile slightly modified to optimize for 3d printing.
- Threaded M8 center hole. No need to tap before screwing in, also results in better strength.
- Fine-tuned dimensions for optimized path generation when sliced with default settings (0.4 nozzle, 3 walls).
- Surprisingly rigid!
