Description

Here is the Fidgety Python for all who like to fidget and make shapes.

Please post pictures of your prints - especially if you use multiple colours.

IMPORTANT: This design has some pretty tight joints when it is taken off the print bed. For perfect results, ensure that your filament is tuned (https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/software/bambu-studio/calibration_flow_rate). Use only a 0.4mm nozzle. I'd recommend PLA only, and stay away from silk variants. The size of the print CANNOT be scaled down because of the tight tolerances in the joints.

When freeing the joints for the first time, I recommend using the sharp edge of a table to support the snake while you put pressure on each joint. They will all free up, but it will take a little effort. It's worth it!

A shorter version of this model, which takes less filament and less time to print, is available at https://makerworld.com/en/models/65617#profileId-68947

Came out great. Once I figured out how to break the joints free it wasn't too hard to do them all.

Yeah, it's a bit of a skill that you could almost list on your resume now. The colour scheme looks great. Thanks for the feedback.

@Tymotion The only secret is to take your time and start with small moves.

Nice filament choice. For a different twist, check out my 'a new twist' (https://makerworld.com/en/models/79590#profileId-84230). Also, I have a new twist fidget toy coming out tomorrow. Cannot help myself.

You are build nice designs! This design here I try it again with 2 filaments first 2colors und the second one with 3 colors, but in this case my fidget toy is broke 3 times. I need a little bit more space between the connectors. I think...

Thanks for the feedback @der.sven. When using 3 colours, the issue may be where the seams are located. I'd recommend to use Bambu Studio's Seam painting feature to paint them onto the outside areas and away from the being in the jonis.

Thanks. Works fine. And as you mention it's tight but some patience is required to clear all the unions

It was quite challenging for me to free the pieces so that they could spin freely. To help others facing a similar issue, I recommend using a sharp object, such as a knife, to carefully insert it between the pieces. Then, gently twist the knife to create a bit of space. Repeat this process for every gap on each side. Unfortunately, before I discovered this technique, I accidentally broke two pieces. However, after applying the recommended method, the object can now rotate perfectly :D

Printed this for grandma (apparently fidget toys can be good for people with dementia) I will probably print this again for myself. I had quite some fun freeing the pieces tbh, but it did take some force and control. Thanks op, it's a great model ! Used designer profile without issue

After freeing each part it functions well. It is an interesting toy.

Took longer to get all the articulations twisting than it did to print. Works amazing now though!

Printed nicely, I did accidentally break it as I was trying to break the gaps. My fault I guess.
