Description

After my mounting clamp for my celestron firstscope 70eq broke, I set out to replace it, only to find no available parts. No problem, thanks to the offerings of 3D printing, I can just make my own. I sat down with the broken hardware and recreated it faithfully.

The original hex head mounting bolt will fit directly into the cutout recess in the bottom bracket. The holes for the hinge screw are sized down to allow proper threading like the original. The wingnut bolt will also thread nicely into the clamp side of the bracket to allow proper mounting pressure. The original mount had a felt type fabric on the inside to prevent scratching of the piano black plastic of the telescope, so I chose to use TESA tape to protect mine. This isn't entirely necessary, and you will still get more than enough mounting pressure. It doesn't strictly have to be TESA tape, I just had some lying around. Anything will do, even electrical tape could work.
