Description

This is a solar finder to help with finding the sun when the automatic sun routine fails.

When it is pointing at the sun, the back piece will be in full shadow with a small dot of light in the center. Use the controls on the SeeStar to move around until you achieve this.

I have split this into two pieces to help remove some of the supports needed. Print both parts and either fit together with friction, or better yet, glue togeather. If gluing together, make sure you have the back part orientated in the correct position first.

WARNING: Do not ever leave this in the SeeStar when it is shutting down. This can damage the SeeStar if it is in place and the SeeStar shuts down and goes to the home position. Creator is not responsible for misuse or damages. Use at own risk.

Thanks! Printed it out following the recommended settings in PLA and adding supports on the horizontal segment for the front part. It came out really good. Used it today to find the Sun and it works fantastically. Thanks again.

The STL files are there. You can download them by pressing the “Raw Model Files” button

Just press the "Raw Model Files" button on the SeeStar S50 - Solar Finder screen. That contains the STL file.

Thanks for this. With a little modification I reckon you can make a sight for lining up terrestrial objects. i.e. a couple of holes on front and back about 5mm. I will give it a try.
