Description

Holds two 1kg filament spools

V2 (1/2/2024)

Revised model! Added better structural support, thicker, no sag, better hook design

For best results print in PETG. It should also work in PLA with my print profile but I have not tested to confirm yet.

Print it in PETG strength settings and it takes two spools no issue. I would do a V2 with additional structural support, but works great for holding empties.

Thanks for the feedback! My set ended up breaking after 2 months so I went ahead and designed a V2 that is available now, give em' a try if you'd like!

Prints fine with PLA, I'm only using mine for empty spools though.

I noticed that it only holds two 1kg spools before the hook starts to droop. I had to run two of these hooks through the middle of two spools on my Skadis boards to support the weight of two spools. It's still a good hook, but in reality, it only supports 1kg per spool

The stress point in the original version seems to be at the top part of the hook. It might be worth reinforcing the top part by having it clamp into three Skadis holes, like an eagle claw. Reinforcing the rest of the hook is mostly unnecessary because it is the failing stress point that is causing the rest of the hook to start drooping. You can see that the rest of the hook remains intact.
