Description

CITROËN H Series Van

Piggy Bank + Stash + Candy Bowl

UGLY or CUTE? I think this Citroën H van is both at the same time! Plus it also functions as a piggy bank, stash or candy bowl that can hold all US and EU coins and snacks, plus standard credit cards, and whatever else you need to stash away.

HISTORY

The Citroën H type van entered French production in 1942 and the last rolled off the line in 1981. It was beloved for it’s strength and durability, and was used as police vans, ambulances, RVs, food trucks, general work vehicles, and lately was seen in the hit movie “The French Dispatch” by Wes Anderson.

One of the unique features of the Citroën H was its standard built-in billboards on each side, allowing for easy adversing of the service the owner provided.

Another unique feature was it’s corrugated metal sidings, which provided strength without expensive factory tooling.

PRINTING

This is an easy print in any color but the corrugated sidings really pop if you use a metallic, or metallic silk PLA. Matte PLAs give a more subtle look, like a faded paint job.

Be warned that having a nice, cleaned build plate is essential for the body to print well. Good adhesion is a must to make sure the corrugated rear end stays on the bed and not knocked around by your nozzle. For metallics, sometimes I put my X1 on silent mode until layer 6 or so - maybe it helps?

Everything slots together without glue, but the doors will pop off with rough handling - use a touch to keep them secure. The dash and seat slide in and are kept in by friction alone, for rough handling use a touch of glue. Put the steering wheel in before inserting the dash!

The support inside the cab can easily be taken out by just pushing the main part all the way through in one fell swoop. Then, if it's not already gone, use a fingernail or tool and lift the support away from the footwell area, it should all come out very cleanly. I hate using support, but this setup was the best option in this situation.

The doors should be parallel to the side of the van and slid in - push in on each corner, but be delicate!

BILLBOARDS

I’ve provided some billboards, but feel free to make your own. I've included a blank one for you to mess with. You can also use the Billboard customizer to design your own billboard  online.
