Description

Remix of Hex Bit Box into a keychain, using a twist-lock design on the lid that <clicks> in place when secured and a hole for a keyring.
Very easy print with minimal supports that easily pull off.
The keychain box stores up to 12 bits securely. Bits can be easily snapped in for storage and snapped out for use.

For extra convenience, the holder will stand upright on the cap when it's removed from the storage box.
The lid uses a twist-lock design that secures it by twisting in either direction.

General 3d Printing Tips

  • Make sure your printing plate is clean! Oils from your skin will cause adhesion issues for your prints. Regularly wash your print plate with a detergent like Dawn and avoid touching the surface when removing prints from the bed.
  • If it's an option on your printer, always opt to level the bed before each print. If you have to perform this manually, make sure you do this after every few prints. It takes a bit of time and patience, but it's a fair trade for reliable prints.
  • Ensure bed and nozzle temperatures are within the expected range for the material you are printing. Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the print negatively by causing warping, malformed layers or adhesion issues.
  • Reduce your printing speed. Slower print speed is especially important for overhangs because it gives the material more time to cool as it's deposited.

If you make a hex hole in the center of the bit holder, it can double as a screw driver

I'd be really concerned with the strength of the 3d printer part against torsion of the bit. My experience with 3d printed screwdrivers has not been good.

It depends on material and print settings (more perimeters, 100% infill?), but it's just an idea. A view it as a small tool you could use when the real tool is not close.

Printing a version now. I'll post it as a new profile once I've tested it a bit.

To perfect this already good print you should add and extrusion (hex hole) in the holder (top center) so it also can act as an screwdriver.
