I tried that. Unfortunately that is not easy to do, as it requires changes to the model. If I resize it down in the slicer, the outer piece that secures it to the wall also shrinks, leaving less room for the roll. So no dice on resizing in the slicer.
Printed in PETG for the final version, turned out perfectly! I tried PLA first with the scarf joint enabled in Orca, but it printed the main shaft very poorly. For the final version, I used 4 walls, 15% cross hatch infill, traditional seam, and slowed the outer perimeters to 50 mm/s.
